Starting a Trend?

For quite a few years now, custom truck builders have gravitated toward Ford's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 as a power source for countless rides, which makes a ton of sense. After all, the Coyote is plentiful and proven, generating solid power in stock form with room for much more, if one wants to go that route. However, this 1956 Ford F-100 took a totally different approach under the hood, and it's one that we'd love to see more of.

Different Kind of Swap

This 1956 Ford F-100 is the product of HJ Customs, who opted to go a totally different route in at least one major way - under the hood. There, instead of the requisite Coyote swap, one will find the relatively new 7.3-liter Godzilla V8, a proper pushrod motor Ford uses in the Super Duty and E-Series, currently.

Modern Take

That Godzilla isn't anywhere close to stock, however, as it's now topped with a mammoth Whipple supercharger and it breathes through a custom Flowmaster exhaust system. That fortified mill is mated to Ford's 10r80 10-speed automatic transmission, too.

All New Mechanicals

Helping to better get all that power to the pavement is a Roadster Shop spec chassis that features Baer brakes and adjustable coil overs, along with staggered Schott Fuel wheels measuring 18x9 inches up front and 20x10 inches in the rear.

Updated Cabin

Inside the cabin, one will find a totally updated interior as well, chock full of goodies such as heated seats, a wireless charger, a Pioneer in-dash head unit, a Kicker stereo system, push button start, power windows, custom lighting, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Restomod Air HVAC system.

Work of Art

The exterior is its own unique work of art, with tucked bumpers, shaved drip rails, and a smooth tailgate and running boards covering the old school modifications. However, those are joined by modern updates such as three-inch widened rear fenders to fit huge tires, one-piece door glass, and custom door handles.

Show Quality Build

PPG Byron Blue paint covers all of those revamped surfaces, making this 1956 Ford F-100 a true stunner even if we don't consider the unique combination that resides under the hood. If nothing else, we certainly hope to see more Godzilla-powered pickups out there moving forward, even if they aren't high-dollar show builds like this one.
