Electric Avenue

Love 'em or hate 'em, all-electric vehicles have become a thing, and it's a thing that likely isn't going away any time soon. In fact, EV swaps have become more and more popular in recent times, and they're breathing new life into all sorts of vintage vehicles. That list includes the first-gen Ford Bronco, which is already being treated to all-electric powertrains courtesy of more than one company, including Kindred Motorsports.

Updated Looks

As is the case with most Bronco restomods, Kindred modernizes the old SUV in a variety of ways, taking a 1966-1975 model and treating it to immaculate bodywork, fresh paint, and a set of 17-inch forged aluminum wheels on the outside, which are wrapped with 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires.

New Threads

The same goes for the cabin, which gets some attractive new threads, along with a modern-day stereo system, power amenities, leather, Bluetooth, and removable/reversible rear seats. Like the outside, there's no reinventing the wheel going on here, but that's precisely what we like.

ICE Option

The big news here, however, is the Kindred Bronco's powertrain upgrades. Those that want to stick with ICE can do precisely that with Ford's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 if they please, taken straight from an S550 Mustang and serving up 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. But the EV option is what sets it apart from most other Bronco restomods out there.

Electrified Powertrain

While it isn't quite available yet, Kindred is developing a setup consisting of multiple electric motors and a battery with enough juice to provide 200 miles of range, while the Bronco will also feature a 6.6 kW onboard charger capable of slower 120v charging or faster 240v capability when available.

Coming Soon(ish)

Pricing for this electrified classic starts out as a lofty $169k, with production expected to begin in 2024. The Kindred Bronco certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea - minus perhaps the ICE version - but for those that are interested in an old electric-powered classic Bronco, it certainly seems like a compelling option.
