Movie Star

Even those that aren't Ford truck fans might possibly recognize this particular 1955 Ford F-100, which appeared in the hit movie "The Expendables" as the personal ride of choice for mega-star Sylvester Stallone. Released back in 2010, the movie was a virtual "who's who" of action stars at the time, including Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren. But few may know how this build actually came to be.

Real Deal

While many movie vehicles are simply shells that feature little in the way of amenities - heck, some aren't even really drivable on public roads - this F-100 is actually a pretty darn nice build. We can thank West Coast Customs for that, as the TV famous shop was tasked with making something cool for Stallone to drive in the movie.

Understated yet Sinister

What would become one movie truck actually started as three 1955 F-100s, two of which starred in the movie and a third that wound up in Stallone's own personal car collection. The team at WCC wanted to create something that was understated and yet a bit sinister looking - appropriate for the guy that was set to drive it - so they sprayed the truck in PPG Envirobase flat black with a matte clear.

Custom Job

The first task was to replace the truck(s)' beat-up body panels with new ones from LMC, which also provided replacement bumpers, lighting, roll pans, and a grille shell with Mercury details. From there, WCC went to town, chopping the top by three inches and adding some hood vents for a more custom look.

Unique Touches

The interior is arguably even cooler, sporting a host of unique touches such as hidden compartments for a pistol and rifle, which comes in handy when you're being chased by bad guys. From there, the team also installed a host of aftermarket parts like a set of Cerullo seats, AutoLoc gauges, and a variety of other bits and pieces.

Power Boost

Unlike the average movie vehicle, this old Ford truck also has a bit more gusto under the hood in the form of a 347 cubic-inch stroker built by ATK engines and fitted with an Edelbrock Total Power Package that churns out 429 horsepower and 411 pound-feet of torque.

Moving On

Stallone didn't keep his F-100 for long, however, as the truck was sold at auction in 2011 for $132,000, a princely sum at the time. As for where the truck is now, well, that's a big mystery, but we have to hope that whoever bought it enjoys it as much as we liked seeing it play a prominent role in a high-grossing movie.
