Here's One Nice Old F-150 That Won't Break the Bank

Reasonable Deal?

These days, it's virtually impossible to find a nice, older Ford truck for reasonable money, thanks to the massive rise in popularity these types of vehicles have enjoyed in recent years. However, this 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat up for grabs on Craigslist actually seems like a fairly reasonable deal with a price tag of just under $15k.

Fine Specimen

From the pictures provided, this 1986 F-150 certainly looks to be in fantastic shape, and the seller notes that there's no rust or other major imperfections to be found, too. With just over 85k original miles, it also has a lot of life left in it, to boot, though the seller has done a considerable amount of work to make this older pickup even better.

Mechanically and Cosmetically Sorted

The seller has reportedly spent the last couple of years working on this F-150, though that reportedly consists of updating its cosmetics and doing minor mechanical stuff - nothing major, like an engine or transmission rebuild. Regardless, the result is a pickup that reportedly runs and drives great, which makes it that much more enticing to potential buyers.

Powertrain

Power for this particular pickup comes from Ford's venerable 302 V8, which produces 185 horsepower in this guise. It's mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels only, though that's not a surprise in the years prior to the current four-wheel-drive explosion.

Sporting XLT Lariat trim, this F-150 is about as luxurious and feature-laden as pickups got back then, with niceties such as power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, and a cushy cloth bench seat, as well as various trim pieces inside and out.

Add it all up, and you've got a nice, solid old truck that one can drive around town without having to worry about mechanical issues. In today's world, that certainly makes it worth the asking price, particularly as prices for these older pickups continue to rise.
