Gorgeous 1948 F-2 3/4 Ton Pickup Has a '60s Corvette Motor
The Chevy mill is causing a bit of controversy, as you'd expect. But the 1948 F-2 looks to be a nicely-built restomod.
Restomod-Appropriate
Early Ford pickup trucks have become amazing platforms for restorations and restomods in recent years. And what's great about these old things is that the package allows for a ton of freedoms in terms of modifications. This has led to the unbelievable amount of variety we see in the Ford truck scene, with new and unique builds being created seemingly every day.

Unique Creation
We came across this fascinating, "award-winning" 1948 Ford up for auction on Hemmings. At first glance, the truck might catch the eye of passers-by for its gorgeous, deep green paint, or the beautifully crafted wood grain bed finished to a mirror-like shine. But what makes this particular restomod truly unique is what lies under the hood.

Corvette Power
The Ford truck is powered by a Corvette motor. No, not an LS, or anything else from this century. This F-2 hides a 1960s 327 ci OHV V8, which cranks out anywhere between 250 to 375 horsepower out of the factory. As the story goes, the hauler underwent a restoration back in the '60s, and that's when the C2 Corvette V8 was transplanted into the engine bay.

All Upgraded
The truck was given another refresh and turned into the show-worthy beauty you see in the photos here about a decade later. Other than the work on the exterior, the Chevy motor was also upgraded with the help of a Weiand high-rise intake manifold, dual Holley four-barrel carburetors, as well as new headers.

Pampered
Since that last refresh, the Ford has been reportedly spending the vast majority of its life pampered inside a garage. It has been well-looked-after though, as the engine is said to be running very well, and the Muncie four-speed manual transmission is apparently shifting without issue.
