Rust Sleeps

AJ Motors of Portland, Oregon has long been popular for unearthing older vehicles and offering them for sale at online auctions. How do older model trucks in Oregon last so long? It’s probably because, despite their winter snows, they remain one of the states that still outlaw vehicle-eating road salts. So, it’s really no wonder that this 1996 Ford F-250 is in such terrific shape. This classic truck isn’t just mechanically sound, it’s also got a teal color scheme that was rare even when it rolled onto the lot for the first time.

Day O

Technically, the truck is two-tone, decked in both white and what Ford Motor’s officially titled “Calypso Green Metallic,” an eye-catching paint scheme which pops, even more, thanks to subtle gray stripes. What’s more, this teal titan also comes with a matching teal fiberglass bed canopy and sidestep, with sparkling 4x4 graphic on the side. Best of all, the truck still has its original tires and wheels, making it as original as they come.

Snail Style

This F-250 has only a mere 85,632 original miles and is powered by a 7.5-liter gasoline V8. Those 7.5 liters might pump out 400 pound-feet of torque, good for just 245-horsepower and an EPA-estimated 13 mpg. Sure, it’s a bit of a thirsty snail by today’s truck standards, but looks go a long way in endearing drivers to this rig.

Drivin' On Night

While the truck is certainly eye-catching from the outside, the inside is a little humdrum. That said, its plain grey cloth interior is in great shape. It has a six-passenger seating capacity and includes full power everything including driver lumbar and, you guessed it, a cassette player. The outmoded audio tech and distance to the stereo control knobs from the driver’s seat may compel modern drivers to update the '90s-tastic interior.

Find the River

In fact, the sparkling interior parts aren’t the only aspects of the truck that make it seem like it’s been driven through a time warp from 1996. All of the truck's original books and manuals are on board. It’s also complete with a fully-functional towing package and a trailer brake controller for those who want to bring their boat or camper along.

On the Road Again

Perhaps the cleverest aspect of this vintage find is the fact that its unique color scheme matches the venerated design of its Oregon license plate almost perfectly. As if it were never meant to depart the state’s fabled natural parks and lakefronts. No matter where its next driver takes it, it’s bound to turn heads and give truck fans across the country a warm 90’s vibe.
