Thought I would finally post some photos of a rare and unique " high boy".
This is a right hand drive Australian body 4WD ambulance of the type used by the RAAF ( Royal Australian Airforce) for recovery operations in the field.
The colour is not original, was an olive green.
The cab/chassis was unlike other Australian F series assembled here, it was fully imported as a right hand drive unit from Ford Canada.
The fibreglass rear is Australian manufactured and typical of other Australian F series ambulances of the era available as 2WD and 4WD in modified F100 chassis made here.
​​​​​​Fitted with high backed bucket seats and an open " walk through" to rear the internals are insulated and lined with some type of ABS plastics with internal cuboards and dark tinted glass.
(The 76' front grilles were removed to access the engine bay due to a broken hood catch)

Originally a 300 cu 6 cylinder, NP 435, 205 transfer now fitted with an Aussie cast 351 Cleveland V8.
Axles are open knuckle hi pinion Dana 44HD 4.09:1 and 4.11.1Dana 60 rear.
The dash board is unique to Australian High Boys, a North American F 500, 600, 700 dash board.
Australian assembled F 100/250/350's had a different dash board to USA and Canadian trucks, with a guage cluster from a Ford Cortina.

I also have a 1975 High Boy truck now stripped down to bare chassis and cab restoration in progress, again fitted with a 1981 Australian 351 Cleveland, Clevelands in 351 and 302 capacities were built here until 1982, the USA Clevelands stopped production around 1974.
They were less reduced in compression than the USA M series 351's and are still very healthy in their outputs.
