5R110W pan upgrade on 2005 E350 V10

I have a 2005 E350 with the V10 and I am considering upgrading the oil pan. I see folks are using the pan from the 2008 and up 6 liter diesel and want to double check that that will work for my van. I am pretty sure I have the 5R110W transmission, it has the tow/haul switch on the shift lever. I like the idea of having a full flow filter in the pan, but don't really know much about it. I have done some overweight towing in the past and never had any problems with the transmission, and I only tow light loads now. I sometimes have trouble on parts websites because my VIN comes up with various body styles. It is a 15 passenger van XL Super Duty.

Thanks,

Jack

Yes, you have a 5R110W. And yes, the newer pan and filter will fit just fine. By the way, the newer pan was on all 5R110W transmissions as a running change in 2008, not just the diesel.

If you get one of these expensive pans that are absolutely flat, it will not leak
I have run a Hughes on my E4OD for over 10 years now without a drop
The pans also add structural rigidity to the case for high HP applications
Adds 4 quarts of fluid capacity
Expensive but worth it IMO

I wouldn't pay that money for an aftermarket pan. The only benefit from those pans is the bottom of the truck looks pretty.

The later 2008 factory pan is a little bit larger. The reason to change to that pan is that the 2008+ filter is a MUCH better filter than the earlier filters. It's even finer than the aux filter that came with the earlier trucks. The later filter won't fit in the earlier pan.

Finned aluminum and 4 extra quarts is NO advantage?
Back to school then Mark
