Best way to find used 7.3 trucks in the south?
I am searching for a 7.3 with less than 200,000 miles and no rust. Living in PA the no rust part makes my search nearly impossible. How do you northern guys find southern trucks? Browsing Facebook with a southern location? Craigslist the same way? It seems so many people talk about buying a southern truck but no one ever talks about how they go about finding them.

There are a number of large pay-for classified websites out there such as Auto Trader, Commercial Truck Trader, and Truck Paper if you want to look for a particular type of truck in a particular region. Generally the people selling on those are dealers of some sort, which means fewer meth-head type idiots but higher prices. There are several similar websites if you are looking for auctions (Purple Wave, Auction Zip, HiBid, etc.) Facebook's classified website is absolutely awful, I have tried to look there at times but it is basically broken for me. I suspect that it might be because I am using a computer Web browser rather than installing their program on my cell phone and I don't have an account with them. (I won't do either of those due to Facebook's notorious privacy issues.) Ebay and Craisglist used to have quite a bit on them but in the past several years it's very slim pickings.

These trucks are 21-25 years old. Finding one that has been run under 10,000 miles per year when the median number of miles driven per year is just under 15,000 is going to be a tall task. That is particularly true when we are talking about trucks that are work vehicles and tend to be driven more than a passenger vehicle. 300k+ is a pretty typical number for these trucks anywhere just due to age and type of vehicle.

Trucks don't have to be southern to be rust free. Picked mine up a year ago. Spent most of it's life in WA state, and only one rust spot on the whole truck. Little spot on the end of one of the under bed supports. Less than 170k miles. They're out there. Just keep looking. Took me months. And it was a little more than I wanted to spend.
