6r140 pan has no drain plug!

I’ve seen other trucks with a drain plug for the 6r140 (2018 6.7L), but mine requires that I drop the pan to drain the fluid. Why the hell would a manufacturer spec that change? Now I have to spend $3-400 for an aftermarket unit or find one off a wrecked truck. Have you all found a cheaper (and cleaner) solution? I already have a cement mixing pan to put under the truck and catch the mess but sure would rather simplify it down to one bolt removal, or better yet, a twist valve .

IIRC 2017 was the last year that a drainplug was designed into the 6R140.

It's not that difficult... I thought about buying a different pan for about 3 seconds and then moved on

Honestly, that's just ridiculous for a pan not to have a drain plug! Does the new 10-spd have one?

Most folks that intend on doing routine changes will also change the filter periodically. You can’t do that unless you drop the pan so just having a drain is not going to solve the problem. While a drain makes it less messy, pan still needs to come off.

I highly doubt it, the 10R140 doesn't even have a dipstick.

Seems to be spotty with some trucks having them and others now but 2017 seems to be the last year where you somewhat constantly find drain plugs.

The last ford product I had w/ a transmission drain plug was a 1998 Cobra w/ Borg warner manual 5 speed. My last truck (2011 F150) didn't have a drain plug plus the fill port/ dipstick was right next to the catalytic converter so if you blinked while checking the fill level you burn your wrist. The burn and last trans service on that truck made me so mad that I read the transmission service procedures for GM and Ram before buying my F250. Spoiler alert, they all suck.

I replaced my tranny pan with a dorman tranny pan for a 2017 on RockAuto. Cheapest solution I could find.

Not having a drain plug is as stupid as using permatex as a gasket on a differential. I plan on replacing my pan first drain and fill I do. At least my differential has a drain plug, still dumb though they don't use gaskets. I used a lube locker gasket on my 2017 F250.
