Now THATS why some of us waited for the 2020, and NO amount of incentives were worth buying a 2019.
Not only an increase, but a monster sized increase!

1050 lbs of torque at 1,600?
3:31 gears are the choice for me.

That is a good jump in power, I'm sure those in the market or who ordered are not disappointed.
Well, one things for sure, every year there will be power gains and improvements along with price increases. So if it takes till 2021 or 2022 to save enough, most likely you will be getting even more power and possibly additional improvements.

I was in the market for a 15-16, took me so long to pull the trigger that I ended up in a 19, it's a whole other animal.

The money is stupid, but as long as people keep buying them, the price will keep rising....insuring a very strong resale if the miles are right.
On a purchase, the actual cost to own is downright cheap.

Just a little voice of reason...

...be nice if the new trucks came with something useful, like 25 mpg empty freeway and 20+ mpg fully loaded freeway. That'd be great even at "only" say 750 lb ft

Can't really use 1000+ lb/ft in a class 2b or 3 truck and it's likely governed to keep from breaking driveline parts anyway.

I remember when 475/1050 were Class 8 numbers... the 0-60 time of a regular cab 4x2 diesel is going to be sports-sedan territory.

25mpg freeway ''might'' be doable unloaded with a diesel, but you won't see that from either of the gas engines, and 20mpg+ fully loaded is a pipe dream regardless of whats under the hood, we'll likely have electric trucks before we ever see 20mpg+ out of a fully loaded down internal combustion engine truck. As far as the torque rating goes, its mostly just to win the numbers game, Ford, GM and Ram all have a hard on for having the highest numbers, be it towing, payload, horsepower or torque. I'm almost certain that torque is electronically limited in first gear to prevent shock load damage on the drive line, but its entirely possible it's limited in other gears as well.

Pretty sure torque is limited in gears 1, 2 and 3. The number is great, but, man, hard to see the application where my 900+ lbft doesn't cut it. And by limiting the torque in the low gears, I doubt there will be much noticable difference in acceleration.

While the SRW are limited on 1-3, the dually is only limited in 1. I wonder if they'll continue that trend with the bump up in torque.

Yeah I am more worried about resale. The 2017 buyers did pretty good as they were a tad cheaper and I assume this model will be around till 22 or 23.

the real question I have with the engine specs is the 6,2 to 7.3 torque numbers. You need to get to 4000 rpms to get to the max torque on the 7.3L and only 3800 to get to 430 ft-lb of torque. Wonder how that looks with both engines at 3800 RPMs on a torque curve graph? Seems the 7.3L is not offering much. anyone know what the price difference is. Early in the year, pre numbers announcement, I figured $1500-$2000 IIRC. NOW, I'd be surprised if it was $500 difference. Not sure you'd notice much difference between the 6.2L and 7.3l with a load.
