You have to identify what type of differential you have. There's a tag on the bolts with code.
Sterling 10.5 LS 3.73 V423B I know you don't need modifier if you use Royal Purple but not sure on the quantity. Well to just under the hole but trying to see if someone can tell me how much I need to get heard anywhere from 2 to 3.5 quarts and with it running $23 a quart I don't want to have to make another trip back to return an unopened quart. My manual doesn't give a quantity just instructions on how far to fill so need someone who has been there done that. Thanks

Ok I will give you there probably are pros, but so much in life we "have to do" even if we don't want too, and this one I "don't have to do" so I have chosen to go to my grave never having had the mini-van experience. Maybe I will be missing out on some benefits but I have my line in the sand and I'm staying on this side of it.

You can use lighter oil like the front has (not synth) or the same weight but not synth to make up the last bit to fill it and it won't hurt a thing ...........guaranteed.

Nope, 4x8 sheets fit in fine (at least with stock spare tire).
The only teeny tiny issue is getting the first sheet past the floor
trim edge where the floor drops 2" between the 2nd & 3rd row.
Once you get the first sheet up-n-over that trim the rest slide in fine.
I've also carried 10' 2-by lumber - one end was resting on my
center console - but I COULD have gotten 12' lumber in at an angle.

Wouldn't that just dilute the quality.

Twelve footers fit just fine too. Just have to put them all the way on the dash.

Not at all. They didn't even run synth and heavier oils for 80+- years and it's only a 10-20% addition. Kind of like saying topping off the rad with water is going to wreck everything. Synth is always mixable with non also.

Well the rate I'm going I won't be anything into it until tomorrow. HA! Nasty gear oil. Got the fill plug out 2 minutes, all bolts off but the top two 5 minutes, been scraping and smacking on a putty knife around the edges now for over an hour got one small two inch section loose and it's draining but it's going to be a long wait then much more scraping and smacking.

I got the Royal Purple in waiting have 3 1/2 quarts+ if i don't open one I can return the last one. The guy who installed my axle housings says he changed the diff fluid and added modifier and charged me for both, but I would bet my left arm that he didn't. It's been in there since July and has about 1,500 miles on it and it is nasty brown stuff. Will see what it looks like when I finally get the cover off.

I bought 4 quarts and still have half a quart sitting in my garage. I have the 10.5 LS also.

All done with mine, took way longer than I thought it would because of the cleaning off of all the silicone. Took 3 1/2 quarts exactly before it started to run out of the plug hole. Dirty gear oil has to be the worst smelling fluid in a truck! So much quieter though, and there is no way the shop who did my axles changed that fluid. Glad I found this forum because i am done with paying people to do things, that they don't do at all, or don't do right!

Even clean gear oil is worse smelling than even the dirties of any of the other fluids.
