might be a bad starter relay. you dont notice the glow plugs clicking on? you can always jump the starter solenoid too to see if thats it. first, looking at the fender mounted solenoid, the post on the left that the battery hooks to, jump that to the first from the left small post. if it starts cranking then its not the relay. if it doesnt, then jump from one big post to another (use a jumper cable) if it cranks then its the solenoid. if it doesnt then it could be the second solenoid on top of the starter.
like i said, there isnt one under the hood. its in the cab, under the dash on the left side of the steering column. there will be 4 plastic ***** you turn 1/4 turn counter clockwise and the panel will come down.
I found those. So I guess I need to start looking at relays. I've only had this truck about six months, first time I've ran out've gas. Do you think I've messed something up?
diesel, not gas lol. And no. It happens. As far as your electrical issue it's not related. What else besides the dash lights don't work? Headligts ok? Fuel gauge work? Try what I suggested with the solenoids and report back what happens. We can go from there.
