Wire brush gets them off pretty easy.

If you're interested in saving the paint, I'd use something a bit less abrasive.

here's a good trick...

Use fabric softener sheets--the kind that you use in the dryer (Bounce or some other brand). Soak the bugs on the front of the truck with water...then work the bugs with the moistened dryer sheet...they dissolve for the most part...

I have yet to try this, but have heard that using a summer winshield was on a rag works good to remove bugs.

Im with YoGeorge on the dryer sheets. I have been using them for about 7 years now after getting the idea from an RV forum. Works great and I usually throw in 4 or 5 and just do the entire truck in case there are any other items on there that need removed.

I used to use the bug/tar when I lived in AK after the winter weather but it would take hours to do it that way. Their is a chemical you can get a auto paint stores that will take all wax and any road grime off the truck and take it all the way to clearcoat without damaging anything. I will get the name of it but I can also do the whole truck in 30 minutes compare to 3-4 hours.

Believe It Or Not!

I saw an old trick in Saskatchewan once to keep bugs from sticking.....It was Pam......You know the cooking spray stuff......Spray it on a cloth and wipe front of Truck. Its harmless and washes off easily during your next wash!
I tried it and it worked great....especially on the Lic Plate ..no harm to paint and washed right off

Go Figure?

Thumbs up

A 50/50 mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. It won't hurt the paint, and will disolve the bugs quickly. You can use a micro-fiber towel, and wipe them right off.
