hose broke

I was under my 2000 f250 v10 and I noticed that a hose coming off the top the the front differential had broke off. I followed it up to the frame to see where it lead to and it didn't. The hose was just clamped to the frame under the drivers side.

Can anyone tell me what this hose is for and what it does?

Thanks much!

It is just a snorkel vent for your differential. You will want to put a new hose on to keep water and dirt out of the diff. If it broke right at the fitting, you might just be able to cut off a bit and reconnect the same hose. They tend to get brittle from heat right at the diff.
