Can you trim the GDS spring to get pressure within acceptable limits?

Ford has literature that states the max fuel pressure is 75 psig or you will begin to cause o-ring leakage.

I tried ONCE to trim the GDS spring. I took off 1/16th of an inch - maybe a little more, but not more than 1/8th. The pressure was still at 80 psig or so. I quite messing with it at that point.

The key meassage is to have a pressure gauge on the fuel system (and then of course choose who you believe on the max pressure).

Just to clear up more confusion, why change the spring at all. Is there a min. pressure along with max of 75.psi?
and are you saying this reg. is better than the factory? Thanks for taking the time to educate us here...

yes there is a min of 48 psi. the 9t517 kit is the updated part for the regulator. This gets you to the 55-58 psi range with good oem filters.
the advantage of this kit is if you have to run a wix filter you will still be inspec. this will also help if you have a slight restriction in the filters.

i would think either ford or international dealers. You just need to go in and ask for a fuel pressure regulator and give them the base part number 9t517 to look it up. International will have a different number... dont know what that would be though.

My part number reference:

International
1843065C95

Ford
3C3Z-9T517-AE (I believe this is the complete kit with the housing).
