Would oil fill an empty, new oil filter when adding it to the motor before starting the motor? I don't know if that even really matters. I've never prefilled an oil filter before changing the oil on this truck for the first time. I prefilled it because folks recommended doing so.

I've always prefilled filters, don't know if it matters or not, just one of my little hang ups.

not sure on your 6.0 set up...but the AFE you need to push the nose of the filter down into the fender..this will push the filtered air into the filter..you just got to be a little quick at getting the filter onto the cone so the dust doesnt have time to get in...

Pre filler here. Maybe 80 times or so since I'm at 249k on the OD. We'd need Gene to provide a couple of pages of analysis describing in mathematical detail how well the oil film is clinging to each individual component based on it's composition and mechanical motion to say whether it's better to pre fill and have oil upon the startup or to no fill and run on film lube for that same time frame.

These engines are really tough. It's not going to matter IMO. I pre fill because that's what I was taught working on the 64 Falcon when I was 16.

I had to prefilter my winter air in my tires, wouldn't want a flat from the inside out.
