Lowering Jaguar IFS
#16
I want
I want to get it as low as possible when parked. You have to remember that I'm running air-bags in all 4 corners. When i start the truck it will come u to one of two pre-set ride heights. I will be able to adjust it as I run down the street.
. The lowered spindles will get it low enough parked. If it sets on the ground. Thats almost low enough.

I would mock it up with the jag ifs crossmember up against the frame, figure out where it sits with the bags, and then Z the front rails to get where you want. I would not mess with suspension mods or drop spindles. Looks are not more important than having the suspension work as it should.

Cant help you then, I would of done the mock up and set the Z where needed. I already learned by doing to get the stance set first without messing with suspension mods. I would fix the Z or live with it, measure once and cut twice or something like that! Maybe the guys over in the newer F100 forum have answers, if I had a 73 I would slap it on a crown vic chassis and run it, and if I can find the right F100 I plan on it.

How old are you Dan?
Where do you live?
I built my first car in 1963 my first street bike to get to school in 1960.
. Finally. I don't want all those different bolt patterns. That's why I'm not running Crown Vic front end. Jaguar is all Chevrolet 5x4-3/4. Stock Chevrolet bolt pattern

You ask questions but obviously you do not really want answers other than what you have decided on already. In the months you have been asking about these spindles I would of had that frame already modified and done. Good luck with your build, I will pass on offering any more suggestions.

Thanks
WOW. DRPtop.....
. Thanks.
I have many different ways to go with "my" build. These spindles really don't exist. That's ok! I was looking for something like them just to get some extra. I'm sorry if I didn't follow all of your advice on how to put my frame together. I could have z-ed my frame 20 inches. I still would have asked about these spindles. I find nothing wrong with picking up more knowledge for the back of my brain. Maybe. Just maybe it will come in handy on another build. I think I've only seen the Jaguar ifs installed 3 ways thus far. Rubber or soft mounted. Bolt in, hard mounted. Gets the project a bit lower than soft mount. 3rd is welded in. You haven't given any other ideas or a way to install one of these ifs. You have 2 ways to do your frame. Z-ed to drop the front end of the truck a bit lower. Or leave the frame as is. (Stock).
lastly.... I'm doing my truck at my pace. I'm glad you have the time to just focus on your truck. I have a business to manage. Truck to build. Social life. Then of course the one that takes up "Not enough of my time" the Grand-daughters. My truck could and will sit for some time if it interferes with the time i get to spend with them.
. Speed on with your project..
good luck Dan...............

You are right, I cannot think of any way to mount the IFS other than soft mount or hard mount. Might I suggest zip ties? I have to think this over. I GOT IT! 13" spoked wire wheels! If that wont lower the truck 2" I don't know what will. I will consult with Dan.
I can do this all day while I Z a frame with my left hand and fab up some drop spindles with my right
Wait for it...
