75 F250 axles in a 79 F250

I am looking at some axles a D44 and a D60 rear out of a 75 F250 and was wandering if they will fit in my 79 F250 that also has a D44 and a D60. I think I am going to pick them up if they will work or not because they are cheap, but I would like to swap them because they are 4.10s and I have 3.54s, but if I remember right the D44 is closed knuckle low pinion and I really don't want a down grade. So what are the axles? Are they a down grade? Will they even fit, isn't there a frame change between high and lowboys?

The front will fit, but as you have aready suggested the front axle is a drum brake closed knuckle, low pinion axle. Probably has external locking hubs as well. For sure a complete downgrade from your current front axle.
The rear will not be as direct a bolt up. The frames were narrower on the 73-77 F250 4x4's and the spring perches will have to be relocated to accomodate the differences.
This is not an expansive upgrade. The front can be changed to the desired ratio and the rear can be upgraded to a larger / stronger axle for less money than a ring and pinion swap.

@x Complete downgrade do not do it. Wait & get a set of 77.5 -79 F350 60's. I waited for a year before I found mine.

They are still out there.

It does have some warn premium hubs on it, and the main reason I am buying them is because they are $50 for the pair. I will save them until some one with a high boy need a spare, or if the ring and pinions are good I might just pull them out and install them in my truck, after all I can get both complete axles for 1/4 the price of one new ring and pinion set. I was pretty sure what they were but wanted to be sure. Thanks

50 bucks is a steal for the pair, while the rear R&P set will work in your axle the front R&P set will not, you'll need a "reverse cut" R&P gear set for your HP44.

Well it sounds like both plan A and B are kinda screwed, but for the price what the heck the hubs cost more than the axles do. Hey montana you get any snow last night?

The mountains (above 6,000 ft.) picked up a few inches over the last few nights but so far the valleys are dry, won't be long though.
