what people have to say about strait pipes..

I have heard that replaceing the .84 turbine housing with the 1.15 turbine housing makes that noise cease. Charles, and others from the other site have said that before. And if you listen to any OBS truck (straight piped or not), they dont seem to have it, and they also have a 1.15 turbine housing.

It's the diesel version of 2" straight pipes on a smallblock chevy sounds like an army of cubscouts at the 22 range.
Gotta have 13 liters or more through a pair of dual 5"ers straights with baffles...
No, really I havn't heard yours but Iv'e heard alot of them in my opinion it doesn't sound like power, just tuner noise like a fartcan on a honda.
Bet it would sweeten up with a spiral baffle to knock down the "PAP" and give it some rumble. something about diesels I read... turbo mufflers make them rumble and round mufflers or glasspacks quiet them down. supposed to be opposite of gas burners, why i don't know but found it to be true on non turbo diesels.
black smoke is often wasted fuel, high volume but low injector pressure, high exhaust temps, not enough turbo or head flow. maybe timing too if everything's set up right there's a small puff till the turbo lag catches the fuel curve.
The factory pump is pretty much tuned to the fuel usage. Software tuners move fuel pressure from the upper curve to the lower for more botom end power but the pump can't can't keep up when the rpm's come up and the power drops off... adding pump capacity keeps the line pressure up.
