One tire inside wheel well one tire outside wheel well

2009 F150 5.4 3.55ls. There was a discussion awhile back of one tire sticking out of the wheel well and the other inside the wheel well. 2 weeks ago i took my truck back and complained about it. They say they have been working with Ford on it. This last Monday they replaced the rear leaf springs per ford and it did not solve the problem (duh). I got a call from the dealer today, They said they have been taking measurements all along the frame. They said that the driverside wheel was in its proper place but the passenger side was to far out. They said the frame rail on the passenger side was miss welded. which they say is the cause of the one tire sticking out of the wheel well. So today they said they are going to request that ford send an engineer out to look at the frame. The dealer told me that they are going to insist that the entire frame of the truck be replace at the dealership. My first ford product and this is what i get. go figure.

Replace the frame?!?

Replace the truck!

Seriously how does that pass QC?

Is this factory specific? Model specific?

There where a few people on the forum that had the problem. Thats how i found out that i had the problem. I think the dealer is blowing smoke up my butt about the frame change. Ford has to know about it. I think i will be getting the phone call from the dealer very soon telling that Ford says its normal, nothing they can do about it. Here in Wisconsin there is a law on the books that says no vehicle can have a tire outside the wheel well while on the road. I will try that card when i get the "nothing we can do for you" call

so the passanger rear tire sticks out? why dont they just make a special offset rim for that end, and replace 1 rim on each truck, that would save ford allot of money!

it should be aligned correctly on the assembly line, plain and simple. we pay good money for these things and they should be right. mistakes are made, thats understandable, but they should have noticed that sooner.

There should be an extensive side by side dimension comparison with a truck that does not have the tire outside the wheel wells. You can't just look at it and say, oh its the frame. Sounds like the dealer is guessing at this point.

If they trouble shoot it properly they may find a simple solution.

ok. so what if you decided to switch rim at the dealer when you purchase the truck for another factory rim that is not customized for this offset. same boat once again.

I asked the dealer the cost of replacing the frame on a 2009 f150 and he quoted me $15,000.00

Yeah, somehow I don't think Ford hotline will authorize a frame replacement on this issue.
