65 Mercury 250 Frame VIN location - Help

I am having trouble finding my frame VIN, sanded some areas off similar to Carras' locations and no luck yet. How big are the characters, is the whole vin number stamped on and does it run in the same direction as the frame? Just not sure exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks
Wes

frame VIN

i had to take my fender and inner fenderwell off my truck to find it, and i found it only after using a wire wheel on my drill, to get the years and years worth of rust off! mine ran the same way as the frame itself, and looked like this=* F10 JK 376230 * had to look VERY closely, to see some of the characters, but they were there!

VIN number was ALSO on my "warranty tag" riveted to my driver's door, but you cant go JUST by that, because they might have changed the door out, so the VIN wouldnt match up!

Thanks Stumpy0227, that's good to know and that it is hard to see. I will keep sanding and remove the inner fender as well.

Wes, It is on the passenger side rail in two places, runs lengthwise and maybe 1/8" stamp numerals. Once under the cab and out in the engine bay.

I don't know if a mirror and a light would help or not.

The tag on the door is good only if it is original. Mine is not and is registered by it. My title & door tag sez F25 my chassis F10.

most people find tthe VIN forward of the engine crossmember/coil springs on the pass. side frame rail. I happen to find my VIN just behind the cross member. I posted a picture of my location in post #12 of this thread. The VIN under he cab on mine is consistent with where others have found theirs. Good luck

Both locations are on the top of the frame. Go look at the picture in post #12. The sandpaper pieces are placed on both locations. I was not able to access the VIN under the cab without lifting or removing the cab. Hope this helps.
