You think that tank is bad, try installing a Bronco tank in there! I'm becoming a pro at this tho, don't even need ratchet straps, just lay on my back and then use my knees to support the tank in place while running the bottom straps - monkey business exemplified, lol

Recent eye surgery not to lift more than 15lbs makes working on these trucks hard.

Oh, that's interesting - why does an eye surgery limit the weight you can lift? I need an eye surgery myself, not like it's gonna happen in the next few years, but would be nice to know what I'll be up against...

Unless mine starts leaking I will never have to drop it. I did the access hole in mine. Since it is a Bronco and the cap is always on (till I get a soft top) it sees no water etc. I was out there today with the sending unit out trying to figure out why my fuel gauge quit. I can pull it and put it back in in about 10 minutes!

When you lift, you tense more muscles than those you are lifting with.

That increases blood pressure.

We are all one. Every muscle in our bodies are connected to every other muscle in our bodies. Tense one and they all tense up.

From dealing with diesel conversions, that gas pickup will give you issues. Not so much right now, but come winter when the fuel gets close to gelling, it won't be able to suck through that fine mesh.
A tee sounds like a pretty good solution-

yes the strain of lifting causes blood pressure increase. i had to have my retina reattached on my left eye, for not doctor types that is the nerve that allows the eye to send what it sees to your brain, don't know what type surgery you need but hope you the best when you have it done. i know that was off topic of the op.

I guess this problem is why I thought my front tank was only 12 gallons?? the back at empty will only hold 13 or 14...........

Got linked over here by Double Zero from another thread, this link has a couple more pictures of the sending unit lacking the shower cap...and a picture of the shower cap resting on the bottom of the tank.

I put a new pick up and sender in the back tank, but on my front tank I put on a fuel hose with a clamp and a v cut. I didn't drop the tank because I had the bed off. The tank was also half full, so I didn't even clean it out. I had the truck stall a few times while running on the front tank but it always started back on the rear. Now it seems to be running fine on the front tank so I don't know what to do. Wish I had read all this before hand.

Luke, have a read thru the link to my thread from today. It sounds like you have a similar situation I experienced. It seems the V in the rubber hose collapsed and sucked aginst itself under acceleration. To combat this, I stuffed a 2" piece of 3/8" brake hose in the hose and clamped it on. I took a nice hard ride in it and it seems to have fixed my issue.

After reading through that, I am sure that's what is happening in my front tank. The several times it did it I was accelerating. Now I need to decide if I want to pull my bed back off or drop that front tank. I filled it up yesterday so I will drive it easy and try to use that fuel up.

Is dropping the front tank a terrible job? I want to leave my bed on this round..
