The overall performance of the truck is amazingly better isn't it? I couldn't believe it when I first drove mine after the install. If you think the 210 is amazing, try the 275! It almost feels like the front end of the truck is going to come off the ground! I can't wait till the 310 comes out.

Here's my theory so we'll see if this proves true. My thinking is that the tuner should add 2 mpg and and the absence of dpf regeneration adds another 2mpg. So for those regening every 200 miles or so they will see better improvements due to constant regens. Now as for me my truck it only regens every 800 or 1000 miles. I've even seen it go further. So for some tanks with no regens i'm saving the 2mpg compared to others. Now I add a tuner and only see the 2mpg gains due to the tuner its self. Anyway, well see how things turn out but since I was already getting 15 to 17 on the hwy unloaded I'm now thinking i may not see the 4+ mpg others are seeing. Time will tell.

Glad you are enjoying the tune. FYI your computer will never be accurate again. It does not get better with time and it will always be out. I have over 27,000km's with my tuner and it's as far out today as it was 2 days after install. Not sure why but don't hold your breath waiting for it to get more accurate, it simply won't happen. Only thing a guy can do is hand calculate the mileage to be accurate. And I agree that if you think the 210 is fun you should try the 275. Or better yet, wait a couple months and buy the 310, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Good point, yea mine was regenerating CONSTANTLY! Even after the dealer did the reflash. Even if you don't get a huge increase in mpg's, you have to admit, the truck is like a new machine. I just felt like mine ran so much better, and responded better after the spartan. I got my setup for the mpg increase, but would do it again just for the overall performance of the truck.

Remember, most that are seeing those big gains in economy are running the 275, maybe a few with the 250. For me about a 3.5-4 in my dually, so I'm happy..

The first cat converters on the fords (diesel) were in 02 I think. I know for absolute sure my 01 did not have one. as far as testing, the feds only put pressure on the areas that have air quality problems. If you are in one of those you are already being tested, at least the gassers are. If you are not in an area identified (mostly big citys) and are being tested it's your state not EPA pushing that. Just vote for different pols until you get some that haven't drank the cool aid. Or, move out in the country. But make sure you get out far enough. I ran to the far suburbs in 95 and by 2000 they had expanded the testing area and I'm back in it LOL. But not for diesels and not for my car since it's over 10 years old and I'm over 65 I'm exempt. guess when you get old you don't pollute any more. Is this a great country or what?

Stanley, I used to live in Marietta. Now I live an hour East of Athens. Having been around Atlanta most of the time from '81-04 I know what you mean. I miss Georgia but things are very quiet over here.

I have a year left before I can remove my DPF. The ethics of it do bother me a bit. How much does the pollution output go up on a Spartan (or any other) 250 tune? And don't get me wrong, I don't blame anyone for DPF delete, ethics things are just personal, it still is pretty much a fair country!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm gonna give mine a chance to work stock and see what happens. But I don't believe for a minute the DPF is preventing anything. My 01 was stock except exhaust and intake and there was soot on the pipe but no black smoke. A cow pollutes more that a diesel pick up. LOL ATLs a good example, it used to be hazy in the summer and they put in all the enviornmental standards now it's hazy in the summer, just like the smokey mountains. huh ceeya

I just got my '09 6.4L about a week ago. It's gone into regen once, at about 200 miles. I'll have to see how it goes. I personally believe that "tree huggers" have too great an influence on our politicians, and are at least partly responsible for fuel shortages experienced in the US. Yes, I believe that changing our trucks so that they blow clouds of black smoke into the atmosphere is wrong. And it hurts the image of diesel vehicles. But, I also believe that we need to take advantage of the better mileage and power that is available from diesel trucks vs gassers. There is probably a dpf delete in my truck's future.

MPG Report

OK so I took a trip this weekend from NC to OH and headed up I77 through the mountains of WV. Some pretty steep hills to say the least and I was loaded only with passangers. On the way up I kept it between 65-70 and returned a 17.8mpg via hand calculated numbers. Coming back I ran mostly 75 mph with some 80mph and returned 16.2mpg for the return. Now last trip with the factory programming I was at between 14 and 14.6 mpg. Looks like mpg are definitly up but i'm not going to see the 4+ improvement like some others are seeing. Either way the improvement is great and the power is amazing. I can actually be running 70mph up some of those big hills and apply the pedal with no down shift and the truck just lurches forward from all the added torque. Much easier to drive for sure. So far very pleased with the Spartan setup.
