DP Tuner and ZF6 manual question.

I got to play with this a little more over the weekend, but been busy at work and unable to post.
Toying with 80T/40T/Stock with the camper (~4000#) in the mountains, 6000-10,000'. No issues with lack of power at lower RPMs, however the EGTs would climb rapidly if I let her lug at all. Pulling some of the steeper hills, I had to switch down from 80T to 40T and once even back to Stock when the EGTs were peaking at 1250.
Left the camper there for the week since I'm going back this weekend, got to play with the 80E/Stock on the way back empty. With any kind of momentum, dropping below 17-1800 RPMs wasnt too bad - as long as a lot of throttle (ie fuel) was not required to get back up to speed. From an acceleration standpoint (eg going below 1700 rpm at an intersection), 80E was a dog, definitely appeared to be a lack of fueling issue.
Is it a bad tune? Maybe, maybe not. I agree that it's useless to try to run 80E around town, but perhaps the lower fueling below 2000 is the "E" part? Would have to speak with Jody with regard to what's going on in the tune and what the goals are, as well as the intended "usage" of the tune.
In the meantime - I run Stock around town, switching to 80E as I roll on to the highway. Stay in 80E as long as I dont get into stop/go traffic, then back to stock off the highway.
I haven't fueled up since the run, so can't yet speak about MPG. Should have more info on that when I top off tomorrow for the weekend's trip. Prior tank (well, 1/2 tank) was just over 17 MPG, not bad for just putting in the DP and playing with rocket launches rolling the local on ramps!

This is obviously becoming a way too common and frequent problem among the ZF6 equipped trucks for it not to be the tune, in my opinion.
It's obvious from this thread that Jody's tunes DO WORK on ZF6 trucks. But it's also obvious that for some reason, they don't work on ALL the ZF6 trucks.
To me, the solution is obvious....swap in a 4R100!
Now for the naysayers out there: don't think I'm bashing on Jody. I have the utmost respect for him and can be accused of being a DP Tuner cheerleader. I got to travel with the man for 8 hours in my truck last January, when I transported him from Holtville to Modesto. Jody is a good man, period. I have an F5 in both my Excursion and F250. When the time comes, I plan on pulling the AC codes from my F250 (replacing them with hybrids) and swapping the AC's into my Excursion. That means I'll be paying Jody to live tune both of my PSD's.
That's a lot of coin to drop into one man's lap. So you know I have the confidence in his tuning ability.
Great tuners aren't created from dust. It's a journey. I'm sure this is just one more step that will continue that journey for Jody.

See sig, I have an early 1999 6-speed, and have had the DP-tuner F5 for a while. My truck does not have this issue. In 40T or 80E is has tons more power bottom end and top end than the stock setting.
I did return my chip last week for reburn as Jody mentioned the tunes had changed since my purchase and the new tunes would work better with the Adrenaline Hpop and Ball buster turbo. I hope the new tunes do not have an error that make my truck run like yours.
I should have it shortly and I will report back with how it feels.

WOW, the chip is dialed in!!! I am still running the stock AB's, I still have the stock HPOP in the truck and should have the adrenaline in a week or two. The new tunes for the early 99 are great. It is far more power and smokes tons more at WOT and low RPMS. Hopefully the new HPOP will help cut back some of the black cloud. I did a few pulls from 1200rpms to 2800, it smokes like a dragon till about 18-1900 when the laggy ball buster kicks in, and then you need to keep a close eye on whats out in front. HOWEVER, it has tons of power down low, and if I am easy on the pedal it wont smoke at all and will just accelerate 'quickly'. You truck slowing down at WOT is completely wrong, it should be pulling like a champ.
Your truck definitely has a problem, call Jody, maybe it is easy like cleaning the PCM terminals more? More power on 40T and 80E are through-out the rpm range on my truck.
The old program I had, about 2-3 years old, had an audiable difference in the injector noise at idle between the 3 programs. It "clacked" louded for each of the higher tunes. The new tunes seem to sound the same at idle as stock, I like that it is quieter now.

Sorry it's been so long for an update.
I had Jody reburn my tunes and he even called me to make certain on a few details.
Now the truck does exactly what I want it to do.
It was definately the tune. I assume it was because of the "decaff" versus the "caff".
120 is a little to much to be shifting around in 1st through 3rd. It's an easy way to rip a clutch out if you're not careful.
Check out the video and thanks to Jody for fixing this issue.
