Driveshaft dissasembly?

Can you take them apart and replace one end with junkyard parts fix one?

Okay I was working on my truck yesterday and was attempting to remove the front shaft. Got it off the diff with no problems. Got three of the four nuts off the u-bolts and that's where I should have called it a day. I was tired and rushed (had to go to work) and got frustrated. The free u-bolt didn't want to come out and the fourth nut stripped. Out came the body air saw till the blade broke. next the air hammer with the chisel attachment. next came a cut-off wheel. Oh I got it out but I ended up cutting into that end of the driveshaft. GRRRRRRR!

Now that is the end that with the slip joint. Can I just buy that end (new or used) and be on my way? Or would I need to have the shaft rebalanced?

I plan on replacing the U-joints anyways should I just get a complete junkyard shaft?

get the part you need from the junk yard. it may work out thay the whole driveshaft is the same price. squeeze in new u-joints, at $18 each that's cheap insureance. next time put some heat from your propane torch on the nut, and it will come right off.
