Post F-150 Tire Size

I am ready to put new tires on my 1999 F-150 4x4. The stock size is 255/70R-16. My plan is 16x8 rims with either 265/75R-16 or 285/75R-16.
The 265's are a conservative option. I am unsure of the 285's as far as rubbing or speedo and computer problems. My stock rims are 16x7. I will be keep the same backspacing but would like to try a wider rim. Is this a good idea. Is anyone else running one of these combos on their truck? Any pictures?

p.s. The wheels will be AR Baja or AR 767

Thanks,
Brad

check out this guide,

I think that you may need to use some backspacers though, the chart will tell you if you need to.
