77 F250 4X4 frame

I usually hang out down on the 48-60 fourm but I have a 77 question for you guys.

I have a 77 F-250 4X4 standard cab long box. It is not a highboy.
The cab and box is pretty decent on it but the frame is getting pretty bad. I plan to try to find another frame or chassis and rebuild this truck. It is just a work truck but it really serves it's purpose better than something else I might be able to replace it with.
I would like to know if a 78/79 frame or chassis would be the same or close enough to use.
Having a couple more years to include in the search should make the chance of finding something easier.

Thanks Richard

No expert here as I have a 77.5 F250 4x4 also and was thinking it was the same frame as the 78/79 but not all that sure.

You will find lots of chatter on here about the 77 likes / differences between the 78/79. Ford changed the 77 mid stream so it will depend on when the truck was made. I did a search for "77 f250" just a couple of days ago and it lead me to several good threads. Good luck!

73 to 77.5 is the Highboy Frame....77.5 to 79 is the Lowboy frame. Does it have a 6 leaf pack for front springs or just 2 that are almost flat or reversed??

Best way is to tell by the transfercase. Is it divorced? if it is you need an earlier frame. If not you need a 78/9 frame.

It is after the serial break when looking for most parts. It has the 2 leaf front springs and married 205 t/case. No fuel tank in the cab. It is definitely not the highboy.

Am I right to think the 78/79 frame would work. If so the search begins.
What is the chance of finding one.

Thanks Richard

Thanks for clearing that up Numberdummy I have a 77.5 , ( I know it is not a highboy I have had a few of them) but have always wondered if the 78/79 are the same frame as my 77.5.

I am in extreme N.W. mo. (Rock Port). How close are you to Manhattan. I have relatives there and get down that way every now and then.
Let me know I might be interested.

Thanks Richard

I am looking at buying a package deal that includes a 77.5 f250 4x4 frame. The frame has been sand blasted and painted, has married transmission / transfer, 4sp. It is ready for a good body! I might have to buy it to get the other pieces I want. I am located in VA and would sell it for $500. I will meet you half way!
