it wont sound a like a diesel because there is no turbo to chop the exhaust pulses.

i perfer magnaflow or a cheap raptor turbo. after putting my magnaflow back on with my headers i am not liking it so much LOL

Best bet would be a flowmaster 70 or a flowmaster cat back which uses the 70.

It would be extremely quiet but shouldnt give you that upper rpm buzz the inline sixes are known for.

Another option might be to increase the diameter of the pipe, and use an OE muffler designed for a larger displacement/powered engine.

I have the flowmaster force 2 system with my rear cat removed and u can barely hear it everyone around here says the original 40 series is what i need and that would be my best bet 4 a good sound but i have also had them tell me u cant get a 300 to sound all that good to how much tone and how loud is the magnaflow

I have a 96, with a flowmaster 40 series. Stock cats and so on. I think it sounds very good. I don't hear the "ricer" sound that everybody is talking about. I think it sounds ten times better than a glasspack or straight pipe.

The cheap "summit" brand 3" cat-back I had on mine sounded pretty decent.

Is the tail pipe bolted on or welded? If its bolted, disconnect it and run it like that for a few miles, see what you think. If its welded, see if the muffler shop will cut it, let you drive it a few miles then weld it back. This would give you a rough idea what it would sound like with a 45 degree turn down, it should be a little bit louder.

if you do get rid of your flowmaster 70, feel free to send it to me.

Personally, I went with a Dynomax turbo muffler and did a 2.5" exhaust. I have a carb'd engine, but it should sound a lot the same since I have EFI manifolds.. It sound awesome. A nice quiet tone, but definitely some power behind it. I'd recommend it.

Well after trying a glasspack, flowmaster 40,super 40 and straight pipe it didnt take much to make up my mind none of the mufflers had enough level of sound so i just went with straight pipe its a tad louder than i wanted but ive already had compliments on it
