Solid looking truck, truly a "Barn Find". I wish my truck would have been even close to as complete as that one seems to be... then again I doubt I would have created my extended cab F-3 if I had started with a complete truck.

4tl - I'm not tracking on the 51/52 question? The year/model on the pick-up hasn't been confirmed from the VIN, but is from a reliable source, my father in-law, who was around when the truck was bought, by his father in law. There is a John Deere next to it (still in use) but if you can place its year from that picture, you have very sharp vision!

Its one of the ongoing "friendly" debates we get into around here about what year truck looks better, the 48-50 or the 51-52's. Some members on here like to joke and say that the grill on the 51-52 resembles a manure spreader (and I'm certain someone will chime in with a picture ). Dick was refering to the spreader sitting next to your truck.

oh, and I kinda like my buck tooth smile on my 52

Thanks - now I get it. Well, obviously the '50 looks better, 'cause that's the one that I am headed towards.

Make sure you have a way to get the truck on the trailer. If unrunning....I had to jacknife my hauling truck and used two two ropes to pull my trucks onto the trailer. I brought a come-a-long but luckly I didn't have to use. I would assume it would take a very long time to do it thay way.

ahmen to that.. this last one we brought home the brakes were siezed.. didn't bring a sledge.. we had to comalong pull it onto the trailer (the winch wasn't strong enough), AND lift it enough to get it to slide on the collapsed tires.. moved it 3-4 inches at a time with a wedge to lift the rear end..

bring tools, lots of them!.. sockets, breaker bar, ratchet and sledge hammer at least, jack if you can.. some thick plywood (to roll the jack on) and a couple 2x4 (6ft) pieces for wedging..

Welcome from me as well . Don't listen to foolish voices in your head . Yes you will be back lots but that not a bad thing . Should be an easy one day trip . I have never used u-haul , but usually rent a 8000-1000 pound trailer from the local trailer manufacturer that also has a rental fleet .

That diagram is of a '52 F-3. All '48-'52 F-3s should be the same. Stu
