Need e4OD wiring help- 1977 retrofit
I'm putting a 7.3l with an e4od from a 92 f250 2wd into a 77f250 2wd. I have the engine wiring harness, trans harness both up to the bulkhead. i need to know how to wire the trans up so it works properly. i grabbed the metal module from behind the glovebox, the plastic module under the steering column behind the dash. is there an accurate wiring diagram i can use? can i direct wire anything? i know that i need the dual vss for cable and electronic signals. has anyone done this before? maybe Dave S. has seen this before. any help would be great!! thanks guys

Have you thought about........a electronic controller saves on wiring.

Controller = $450 (saw it for $400 once)
Wiring harness = $150 (they can make it to fit your exact application if you give the dimensions)
My understanding is that this is the least expensive aftermarket controller currently available.
You can use either types of VSS sensors, analogue or digital MLPS, and you can retrofit any TPS you want. Even mount one connected to the go pedal, its all up to you. It does NOT use or require an engine RPM signal. It also does NOT use or require a break light signal. There is no self scan ability, but you can connect a laptop to it for tuning and diagnostic to get just as much info out of the system. It will not store fault codes or go into limp mode.
Every computer controlled feature is programmable: line pressure, shift timing and TC lockup. It also gives you the ability to program a second shift table (towing mode for example). There is a semi-automatic function that uses the cruise control buttons to control shifting but haven't tried this yet.
The only real catch is that it does not come pre-programmed. The tuning software is free and comes with the controller or can be downloaded off their website. It took some trial and error to get the hang of fine tuning the settings, but its well worth it.

The Baumann does away with the stock PCM for the trans. All it really needs is the TPS hook up. I'm not sure how the CC works, if it gets it's info from the PCM or not. I'll be going through the same thing with my conversion. If I find anything helpful I'll let you know.

I'll be setting mine up shortly, as soon as I finish hooking everything up. Can I pick your brain on the setup once I'm ready?

Sure, I'd be glad to help. The software package comes with several profiles to get you started, but you will still have some fine tuning to do.
As for the cruise control, my 1986 (both my trucks actually) have a self contained system that is independant if the PCM. My F150 was EFI in a previous life and still has the PCM in it, but its not connected to anything and the cruise still works. My F250 never had a PCM and it has the same cruise system. Diesel repower on a 1988 ranger that was also EFI, and same results, PCM seems to be strictly for managing the engine in those early years.
If your 1977 has cruise already in it, than just use that system.
