Trick My Trailer
#93
i know this "trick my trailer" thread thingy is more about r.v.'s but i thought id post my utility trailer upgrades. first is the pic the day i took delivery, 2 years ago in january. its a '07 6x10 haulmark, has the extra height so its aroud 8' overall height, 6' interior height. a year ago i added e-track rails to the interior sides ive added my alloy rims and higher load range tires from my ranger, more capacity than the white-spokes that came with it, and it looks cool too. thought i had a tail lamp problem on one side, upgraded to L.E.D assy's turns out the stock assy i thought went bad wasnt, a freinds tow harness had a problem, oh well wanted to do a light upgrae anyways, 27.50 per assy. i still use the ranger to tow with, gets about 13/14 due to wind resistance. but when i need more power and braking ability i borrow this, i may buy it someday, has only 70 K miles on it. 351/E4OD/3.55's the utimate upgrade-tow vehicle! the only thing ive done that i dont have a pic of is the new floor tie-downs, going through the floor and frame rails are 5 tie-down loops, originally ment for the transom of a boat as tie-downs/lift points. i have 1 in the V-nose, 2 at each rear corner and 2 more about where the side door is. the only other thing i may do is add electric brakes, may go to a 6-lug axle when that time comes. yes, its no R.V. but its something to look at on a cold snowy day, sure cant do anything outdoors. on edit, i guess you can see the floor-tie downs in the pic with the E-tracks, i thought that picture was older than that, that pic was took the same day i put in the light assy's.

It's only late-June, Wolfie. Maybe he has a slow connection and the upload is just taking awhile.
Update on my trailer:
I fixed the leak under the bathroom sink. The plastic fitting on the water heater broke causing the compression fitting to stop compressing. This created a fountain that lasted for about five minutes while I testing the bathroom sink repair and flushed out the water lines.
Bought a replacement hose at True Value hardware. I don't bend too well, so my dad installed the hose. No more fountain. The replacement hose has a smaller I.D. than the "old" hose, so we'll se if it's going to make a big difference in water flow. The sinks flow well but other than turning on the shower, I haven't really done a flow test.
We found the converter. It's under the oven. Today, we're gonna try and determine if there's a short in the battery power system or if my battery is toast. We tested the fuses and they're fine. Shore power works great. We disconnected the solar panel and the shore power. Battery would run the stereo, but when I turned on the water pump, the stereo quit working and the water pump did not energize. The electrical gremlin is alive and well and living in my trailer.
I don't know how old the tires are (Goodyear Marathon - ST205/75R15) so I want to replace them. I've had the trailer for nearly three years and I don't know how long the tires were on the trailer before I got it. My dad and I searched several tires, front and back, but couldn't find a date code anywhere. Just another reason I want to replace the tires.
Are the Marathon tires reliable now? Aren't these the tires Goodyear was having some major failures with awhile back?
Also, the tires on the trailer are ST205/75R15, but the spare is ST225/75R15. Which size is the correct size from the factory? I can't locate my Owner's Guide at the moment and there's no information on the trailer about tire size.

Had a problem with the trailer tail lights. Turned out to be a bad chassis ground. This is now fixed.
The problem with the water heater not heating water with electricity was because neither I nor my dad knew there is an On/Off switch on the rectangular gray box on the back of the water heater. Evidently, this switch is turned off for winter storage conditions after the water heater is drained and bypassed. The switch works. When the switch is "On" I have hot water when using electricity. I wish I could find the owner's manuals for all my appliances. Maybe this wouldn't have happened.
Once these conditions were remedied, I then checked flow to all the faucets and the shower. The kitchen faucet leaks. Water sprayed everywhere underneath the sink. Looks like I'll be replacing the kitchen sink now.

The faucet is installed. I decided to not use any sealant. During the test fit, the base gasket looked good enough to me, so instead of removing the faucet again, I went ahead with the install.
The faucet looks GREAT! The sprayer reaches all four burners of the stove.
I was able to get the air conditioner working today, so I have a fully functioning travel trailer in need of some shakedown runs. The first shakedown run will be this weekend. I'm taking the wife and kids shooting at our gun club and will tow the trailer to the range for the day.

My youngest daughter had some friends over for her birthday party. She had three gals that were spending the night. There's no way all four would be comfortable in my daughter's room, so I surprised them by saying they could stay in the trailer if they wanted.
They all jumped at the chance to have their "own place" for the evening. After a day of swimming, grilling and party stuff, I gave the gals a quick rundown on how things worked.
They had a blast spending the night in the trailer. There were no problems with any of the trailer systems.
