C'mon Vern you don't want to blend into the shadows, how about yellow? Maybe with some flames or something

When I had my cobra painted I was pretty set on the ellenor colors, a dark grey lots of pearl with slate stripes. I was discussing it with the painter and he really liked those colors and proceded to say how it was easier to keep looking clean, and was a much more classy look, where the blue was more sporty, little did he know he made my mind up right there. I picked the brightest blue I could find (new Z car daytona blue) and bright white stripes. Absolutely no regrets. Its my toy car, might as well have some fun. You may be shy now but you will crave the attention

Chrysler used a non metallic grey on most of their cars in the 50's, the yuppie beige of the day.
Audi also offered a battleship grey on the TT 3 or 4 years ago. I remember a guy that AXed one nationally that would list it as "no color" and his numbers and class letters were in the same font as used on battleships.

Gary,

I've always had my previous cars painted flashy colors so I thought I'd try something new with this truck. The truck will get its share of attention regardless of what color I paint it. A light gray should also make it appear more original which is a look I'm going for even though the truck is a darksider...

Ax, thanks for the suggestion on the early Mopar colors...

Heat is something we can always use here in the upper Northeast...especially when the snow starts flying!

I personally think grey needs a second color to go with it. It blends into the pavement too much for safety, (silver/grey is the color most often in an accident), and looks like primer no matter how shiny. Dark blue, dark green or black fenders and running boards would set off grey nicely IMHO.

I was thinking about black for the running boards and behind the grille. The wheels and interior will be Burgandy...

Why not deep burgandy (black cherry) fenders then?

Hmmm, woodsmoke gray? don't know the color, but mine is pretty light.
these 2 pics i just took today, i left the superclean and rag in the picture for color reference. i've look it over pretty good, if it's not the original grey, someone stipped it to bare metal and re-painted it along time ago. the current blue is applied with a roller.....

if you'd like a bigger picture, PM me your email and i'll send you a couple

Rustoleum Smoke gray is what I used today on my frame. It turned out real good. I like the way it flows.

My '50 is grey with black running boards and rims and an off-white grille. I used pre-mixed enamel from the local Carquest. Looks good, but it's not a show quality paint job. If I wasn't so dumb I would figure out how to post a pic.

A very dark cherry that almost looked black but had red highlights in the sun would really look good and would still be in period character IMHO!

I don't know if my truck is straight enough to pull off a color that dark. One of the perks of light colors is that you can get away with a not so straight body...not so with black or near black. I can't afford to put 5 Gs into paint and bodywork for a non-show truck...
