GM/PONTIAC factory radio code

hello my lady friend has a 1999 pontiac grand prix GTP. she just recently had a new battery installed and now the radio asks for a "code" before she is able to use the radio again, she is the original owner and has her owners manual, but she cant find any such "code" . anyway the GM dealer wants 30-40 bucks to press a few buttons to get the radio to work again. does anyone have any input on what the "code" or what buttons it may be?? thank you - jason

Google radio codes or the like. I have seen a few places on the web that has the codes. good luck.
Did you happen to post this question in the audio/video thread? I would bet they would know.

The reason they want to charge you $30-40 is because they have to first retrieve a certain lock out code from the radio then a call has to be made to GM to get the actual unlock code. From there depending on what security state the radio is locked in it might have to sit with the radio on for 1 hour or more before the code can be entered. Once that has happend an overly complicated process is required to enter the code and hopefully it works. So why in the world would anybody want to steal a factory radio is beyond me but theres more to it than punching in a few numbers.

That sounds about right. It took the dealer about 1 1/2 hours to get my code

97 gtp.The car was brought new so you should have the code on paper or

a metal tag from the factory. In your folder. If you still have them???
