I can visualize that the stud would not allow sufficient space to install the heads, but do yo think it would be possible to install the stud through the head first and then install head/studs as one assembly and then tighten the studs to the block through the heads??
Thanks.

I'm going on the assumption that studs are superior than bolts? If there are bolts with equal strength then can you please let me know the brand?
Sorry for the multiple questions, but thanks alot for the responses.
I don't have a problem yet, but I'd like to know these things just in case Murphy shows up one day.

lol i can understand. i dont know if there are any bolts out there other than stock bolts. the studs are better within holding down anything whether its on a gas or diesel, head or crank. the tensile strength is there, and it is gonna be higher (probably) than any bolt manufactured any day. the factory bolts are designed to "stretch" when you are torquing them down so that you can get all of the "strech" out of them, its called torque to yeild bolts and ford has been using them for years. that is also why once used they are trash. if you are stock and you will running no more than a mild tune, i would feel like stock gaskets and bolts are plenty. i havent had the first head job come back with leaking gaskets, where new heads were installed on a flat deck. i did have one come back on me but the deck of the block was .005 out of flat so that kicked me there.
