The interval and oil are good. You may want to bring your own filters or make dam sure they are using OEM Racor filters. The "will fit" Wix etc will damage the motor.

Also with the load you are pulling, if you don't have EGT, Trans Temp, Oil Temp and Water Temp gauges (All A/M) you may be over heating your engine and coking the oil. You may want to run a UOA from Blackstone labs to see how your oil is holding up towing these loads.

Also it has been shown that a buildup of casting sand can cause premature oil cooler failure which then causes restricted coolant flow to the EGR cooler.

Yes you are correct, good catch i failed to mention that. This is another reason to install a "Coolant Filter" from

My `05 Ex 6.0 on 35`s with 3.73`s did same thing. Turbo went out, then 2 weeks later while pulling 8000lbs toyhauler up to Flagstaff I lost boost again and started running rough and stalling. Took to dealership and had to have new EGR cooler, oil cooler, and EBP sensor. That was a month ago and is currently in shop for the 3rd time!!! Ex keeps running rough and stalling out ? Last visit Ford replaced fuel injector harness and did latest reflash. That lasted 3 days and its been back in shop for another 8 days. Tech called today and said they found some oil sensor or box that was allowing air bubbles to get in high pressure oil lines or something. Said my Ex should be ready tomorrow, but I have my doubts that its cured! Ford has replaced 28 defective parts on my 6.0 since July of `05 and a total of 70 days and still in shop and counting I now have corporate Ford involved, as I can no longer count on my ride to get me anywhere, and is also not safe to drive-as I could have an accident from stalling while cruzing! Good luck and hope you dont have same issues as me, but I`m starting to see a patern here.

sounds like you need to find a dealer with a better tech, i've had 3 problems in 2 years with my 6.0 that are related to the motor, first problem my alt died, 2nd and 3rd problems combined were an exhaust leak so i got new manifolds and gaskets and the motor would surge sporadically, found a chaffed harness and that was that no problems since then and it was just over 1 year ago now that happened, they did replace some injectors at the same time but i had no idea that there were any problems with them

I`ve been to several in my area. I was told that Sanderson Ford is best in Az. for diesels But there is over a 30 day wait to get in, and Ex is our only ride so I couldnt wait.

If you look at the Sticker on the drivers B-pillar you will see your GVWR is 8800lbs. It also lists your GAWR. The GCWR is 20,000. Your truck and trailer probably scale right at 22,900 which is over the factory GCWR by 2900Lb. This is approximately 15% over the weight rating of the truck, so that alone is taxing axles, brakes, frame, drive train components. Not to mention illegal if you get stopped by the weight police.

The 6.0 & Torqushift are used in trucks up to F750's, your biggest problem from an engine and transmission standpoint is you installed an 8-inch lift and 37-inch tires. The factory tires were LT235/85R16 (32 x 9.25 x 16). The new tires are 5-inches taller and you didn't re-gear your axles. So the factory 3.73 are now a net effective 3.19 which is 14.5% difference resulting in 300RPM's lower at the same speed as would have been running in stock configuration. So now you are out of the power band of the engine most of the time and lugging the truck. This is also putting added stress on the transmission. In addition the speedometer is reading low by 14.5% and the PCM is getting incorrect speed inputs.

To get the lost power back and the truck back into the proper RPM range you need to re-gear your axles to at least 4.30 and 4.56 would be better. Also you need to recalibrate your PCM for the correct tire size or the PCM will be getting incorrect information.

Your turbo problem is directly related to not driving the truck. In 3-years you have only put 30K miles on the truck. Letting the 6.0 sit allows corrosion to form on the turbo vanes & unison ring causing the vanes to stick.

To compound your problems you have installed an A/M air intake and now a BullyDog. If you haven't lifted your heads already, you will sooner rather than later running this setup with 37-inch tires, 3.73 gears and pulling 14,900lbs. Also the transmission is not going to last very long.

If you insist on towing this load with this truck at the very minimum you need to re-gear the axles and re-program the PCM for the correct tire size. This will help the engine and tranmission, but your brakes, frame etc will still be undersized for the load.

The best solution if you are going to keep this trailer is to get an 05-08 F350 DRW with Tow Boss package or an 08 F450.

Keep us updated on the diagnosis and repairs to your truck, with the symptoms you are describing you may very well have head gasket issues, bad oil cooler or other problems.
Blackhat you are like Wile E. Coyote Super Genius! That is an outstanding reply....
