I looked at the Rotella website and it makes no mention of the synthetic version. Is the one I got the right or wrong one????

It is supposed to be the Shell Rotella T heavy duty motor oil sae 15w-40 with the tripple protection graphic on the front and the mention of off road and on road diesel engine protection on the back label correct?
Nope, this is not the synthetic...the synthetic is 5-40W. I use the 5-40W synthetic during the winter (cures cold weather start-up romping) and I run 15-40W Delo in the summer. That is good oil that you bought though...and the price is reasonable. I pay $53.00 for 6 gallons of Delo at Costco which is comparable to what you paid for the Rotella.

Things have calmed a little...Battle Creek Complex is still cooking (they took my 6000 gal tender off of it), but I have been dispatched to a windmill job in Union, OR. They are installing 38 windmills and I'll be driving a 6x6 w/ Allison automatic starting in the morning (this is what is known as paid vacation for truck drivers) tending the dynamiting of the footings for the windmills...I ought to get some good pictures tomorrow!

If you ever run into the Zig Zag Hot Shots while in fire camp, you tell them you know a guy that worked for Paul Gleason. Paul Gleason was the Superintendant of Zig Zag IHC that made that crew it's name back in the day (Zig Zag, Oregon near the Mt. Hood). Seriously, if you're running around in E. Oregon on fires, watch for that crew. When I was doing it, the only crew that fast was the Midnight Sun crew out of Alaska. You'll know the Midnight Sun crew cause they have black helments and their Saw Crew wears their saw chaps backwards when "humping".

Jeff, The "Super Tech" brand filters are a WalMart brand, I know that a filter manufacturer makes them but not sure who.
I have shyed away from using these in my gasser Fords and have always used the popular FL1A filter from Motorcraft.
May be the "SuperTech" filters are OK, may be someone else knows more about them, but for now I'm going to stick with the Motorcraft FL1995 for my 7.3
