so you have to change the whole alt cant just change the regulator right?

yes. just swap out the alternator.

you might be able to get a rebuild kit for it which usually includes new brushes,bearings,and a new regulator.i just dont know if they are available for this particular alternator.

A couple of years ago, I lost the internal voltage regulator in my alternator (wasn't my current truck). The voltage regulator kit from the dealer was more than an aftermarket alternator. If you replace the voltage regulator alone, how much longer will it be before another part in it fails (bearing, brushes, etc). I would go ahead and replace the whole unit, unless you can get an entire rebuild kit like gotfu suggested.

hey guys it was the alt thanks for the advice i took it to a guy and he rebuilt it for $125 which a new one from advance auto was gonna be 145 plus wait for 3 to 4 days so i had him rebuild it and put it on last nite and it works great thanks again
