Matt have you sent this to the FTE staff to put in into a sticky on the top of this forum? This is such a big known problem with the A4LD/4R44E/4R55E/5R44E/5R55E in the Ranger/Explorer/Aerostar. I should know I did loads of them as a Ford Trans Tech.

Problems With Obtaining A Separator Plate

I went to the dealer to pick up the filter and separator plate...the filter kit was no problem...on the other hand, the separator plate was the issue. I could get a separator plate, but I had to buy an entire assembly that included the valve body, solenoids, etc... that costs approximately $700+. Basically, you can now NOT buy the separator plate w/gasket as a separate component.

Therefore, I'm looking for some direction/help again:

- Should I still replace the filter?
- Should I try to fill in the broken gasket area with some sealant?
- Should I try to fill in the broken gasket area with a mocked up gasket?

All comments are welcomed!!! ASAP!!

Darn dealers...

My truck is a 1999 with the 5r55e trans...

I kind of belive the guy because he turned the computer around and showed me that he could not order it separately...

Now, I did call earlier in the day and it seemed that I could order the part separately (at least that's what the day guy said)...sounds a little fishy!

Does anyone have a part number?

I'm going to try to go there during the day to get the day time parts department instead of the afterhours like I did tonight (sidenote: their parts department is open 24 hours from Mon-Fri...pretty sweet I think)

Unless, someone could hook me up with the part? I have no problem paying!

Lastly, I did call another Ford dealer and they said that they could not order the separator plate as wel...

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Is this the part number? Check out this Ebay auction...

F6TZ-7C155-A

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-FORD-VALVE-BODY-GASKETS-AND-SEPERATOR-PLATES_W0QQitemZ270090917310QQcmdZViewItem

Or is it one of these...

A new separator plate (7A008 or 7Z490), upper/lower separator plate gaskets (7C155 and 7D100 used only with a 7A008 plate)

Thanks,
Nick

Yeah that dealership parts **** was on crack. you dont have to replace the valve body just the gaskets with the new updated molded separator plate for the newer models.
