I am installing a Heidts Mustang II Kit in my 1952 Ford Pickup.
And am looking for a oil pan for a 302 Ford that has a rear sump and a dipstick mounted in the pan. And and am having trouble finding one anyone have any ideas on what to look for. THANKS !
Four wheel drive trucks had a rear sump pan. Fox chasis mustangs had a rear or double sump pan I believe, or at least most aftermarket pans for them are rear or double sump.
Ford vans from at 75-91 had rearsump oilpans as did 4x4 trucks. The vans were available with 302, 351W, 400, and 460 engines. Everyone of those use a different pan.
I had a similar problem with my 292 and MII. My pan was a rear sump but still wouldn't clear. I set the block in the truck, made a pattern from a straight piece of wood (with something stiff like wood you can check for clearance). Off to a metal shop where I had the pan cut and a new bottom welded in. If you do this, don't fortet to test the pan for leakes before you put everything together. Good luck. Larry
