Monsterbaby,

I can't post pictures, so you send me an email, I'll send you some aluminum pictures of 385 candy and FE candy, and you post the Ford shots for everyone. Thanks for the luck wish, but don't need it....I have toys...

Ok. That's fine. I dont either. I know it's not going to be entirely accurate, and I hope everyone on this forum knows it too. Why dont you tell me a better way of approximating what an engine will do, short of actually building it and putting it on a dyno.

email sent, send your pics I will put them in my gallery and post a link to them, but it's about time to crash for a while so may not get posted until I get up.

Oh and the ford Cammer is not a ford head it was produced for them by an aftermarket company so if your going to compare apples to apples then compare factory heads otherwise we can post this while we are at it.

or how about these http://www.jonkaaseracingengines.com...dhemiheads.jpg
Oh and that motor makes over 900hp NA, with TFS version of the Ford motorsport A460 heads.

onsterBaby,

Is your name Rob?? I got an email from a Rob that says heads....I emailed pics of my aluminum tunnelports to another member, I just won an ebay auction for ported heads for my bike.....so "heads" is confusing!! If this is you, confirm and I'll send something for everyone to look at!!!

That's just the thing! Nobody goes to the dyno. We're lucky to hear back that they got it running! Most seem happy with their new motors, but dyno numbers for comparison? Forget about it!

Even when they do go the dyno, we get rear wheel horsepower. That's hard to compare to the flywheel horsepower that Desktop Dyno (supposedly) puts out.

I even started a thread on this. See here:

MonsterBaby,

If the cammer head was farmed out, it's news to me as well as alot of others. My Cammers heads have Ford casting numbers. I believe this would be new to Jim Dove, as he bought the molds from Ford years ago. It was a factory tool room piece, although not production, it is Ford. Another example of ultimate flow vs propper swirl is the Mickey Thompson Thunderbolt Fairlane. I have seen this car close up and personal. Mickey cast 2 sets of aluminum Chrystler Hemi heads that bolted up to an FE block and the car ran slower than it did with the Hi-Riser!! Fact not fiction.

Did you get the pictures I sent you?? Can you post them??

Rusty,

I'll take weight vs: E.T. over Dyno figgure anytime as Dyno can be doctored, and I'm more interested in trap speed than E.T. as well. My friends 1968 fastback mustang ran 9.30 at 147mph with a tunnelport, but that doesn't come close to 950 HP figgure on desk top when you figgure in weight.

Yeah. If you're a racer, that's the way to do it. But a lot of these guys aren't.

rusty' - still watching the "debate" (WITH a bit of 'maybe'). I have a 360 to build and a 390 donor. The 360 has a factory 4-bbl manifold. Am thinking of adding a 1" spacer. Have a set of Flowmaster long-tube headers and Thrush glaspaks. Gathering info and taking notes from here and other sources. This area has more than a few speed shops (being near Bristol Speedway). Most info is soaked up like a sponge and compared w/ other info. Your "Dream Sheet" seems like a place to start.

I never said anything about ported heads, I said "Ford Made" Anyone who thinks Flow + Horsepower needs to go to school, as that leaves out velocity, port volume, valve angle, and combustion chamber shape. In a naturally aspirated aplication you need velocity for swirl to atomize and suspend fuel as well as flow. No where is this more evident than the larger valved 1969 boss 302 heads vs: the 1970 heads. The tourque peak is raised to the point of not being able to keep the thing together with the technology at the time. Tunnel ports have massive flow, but I'll take the Hi-Riser any time. On the street, 440 6-pack wedges outran 426 Hemi cars in stock configguration. Show me a good as factory cast 385 head....only in Can Am.

Yes there are a dew of us that know a little about what it takes to make heads work... on a N/A motor.....If I had a dime for every question I have asked Scott Johnson, Uncle Charlie Evans, Randy Malik,Keith Craft, Jon Kaase and the freakin list goes on and on..and I'am still a big dummy !! with there resources and tooling ..Things change daily.....

I have the change in the bank for my IDT block....But at this point I'am in limbo about the Heads? I was thinking IDT also....But Jon swears to me that his (when ever the Market) on hold for now..the P51 heads might be the going thing? But promises Dont get you down the track...LOL

So I'am in no hurry now...I'll see what tomrrow brings....where going thru this with FFRCobra's build right now to find the best set of heads we can...and what was making power yesterday isnt nessesarily,sp making power today.. JMO

Well he did say he was going to crash (sleep) for a while. He's most likely away from his computer and snoring. He'll get around to it.
