Urgent: Won't shift into 4x4, Fuse Location?

Probably not the right forum, but it's a 6.0L diesel!
2003 F250, Auto, won't shift into 4x4. It has the electronic dash ****, no lights come on and doesn't go into 4h or 4l. Suspect it might be the shift motor, but would like to check the fuse.

Can anybody tell me the location of the fuse that controls the 4x4 eletronics? I bought the truck used and didn't get an owners manual with it.

Would contact my local dealer back in WV, but right now I'm in the middle of a three week trip touring the west and I'm in Moab, UT. Local dealer here is closed. Will have to be fixed before I get home 'cause I have to use 4low to get the fifth wheel backed up my driveway.

Thanks,
Bill

Fuse panel beside the steering column

111 location
30 amp Maxi Green

Starting at the top left side row 2 ... 5 down or check the fuse panel cover for clarity of the location.

Thanks Maxium, but that wasn't the problem. Fuse was good. Must be the motor it's self.

hey wpoling,

I know on the 7.3 trucks electronic shift-on-the-fly 4x4 problems are almost always caused by vacuum problems in the lines or the hubs. I think your truck has the same basic running gear. Someone should be along soon with a more definite answer...

Whoa ! easy on the quick diagnoisis, there is more to this system than people think.
There are a total of 5 fuses that alow things to shift and operate correctly.
Fuse #111,33,45,31,27 and also 34.
2 relays
1 vacum solenoid and front hubs
1 shift motor
abs sensor
brake pedal switch
1 4x module
.Also the wiring to the shift motor and
The 4x switch in the dash
Chk all the above fuse and report back

Try manually locking in the hubs and see if it's actually engaged. If so, it's just the auto-locking mechanisim.

I have the manuals for the 03 6.0,5.4 ,6.8 it could be a misprint in my manual
though !
Thanks for the heads up! I'll chk

After further review Max is correct !

In the manual the fuse 33 goes to the 4x module ,it must pass through to the wiper system ,because If I go tothe wiper system diagram sure enough you are correct it does power the wiper system.
I stand corrected ,only 4 fuses.

Don't take me wrong....I screw up and you had me looking for sure... 2003 was the split year offering the 7.3 and 6.0

I hate the split years cause they always have to change, even fuse locations. So I went with the generic all power 111 location. Since nothing is lighting on the dash it could be multiple locations. I know the dash switch causes problem as well as the electric solenoid. The vacuum hubs would be another problem of not engaging but the dash would or should...light up.

Well he needs to tell us if the dash lights light up when he first starts the truck then we know they work .That is the self test for the bulbs and circuit gnd.

We may never hear from him again .

Yes we can be very entertaining!

I'm back online!

Thanks guys for all the info (and entertainment ). Today is the first campsite that I've had wifi at to get online and now we're under a tornado watch! (Frankfort, KY)
Yes, all my dash lights do come on at key on position. Hubs are not locking and motor is not actuating. When manually locking hubs, still no 4x4.
Have checked several other fuses, but will check more tomorrow, if I don't get blown away tomorrow.

Thanks again,
Bill

use a tester to see if the motor is getting power, if it is try lightly tapping it, it may be stuck if not used much
