I have a '61 f100 and I want to scrap my factory 4spd shifter with a Hurst 4spd shifter. Has anyone done this? Is this an easy task? Thanks for the help.
Sorry pal. The granny 4-speeds had a top mounted shifter. Late model transmissions had the shift rods come out the side and the linkage mounts to a plate near the tailshaft. No one makes a conversion shifter for the top mount transmission. If you want to convert a late model Ford big block toploader to a floor shift, drop me an e-mail and I'll send you some photos and information on how to do it. Unless you have a 65-66 truck with an FE motor it isn't easy, but if you do it right it is really slick.

I have a 1976 F250 2WD 360ci Granny 4 speed and I'm very interested in your shifter conversion solution. Please forward any info you have to davidlewis@jis.nashville.org. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas, David.
Why not post it here for all of us to see? I'm sure somewhere down the raod, the question will be asked again and one of you may not be here to help. FTE will always have it once saved on the server.
