V10 Triton Life Expectancy?

I am considering buying an Excursion. I am curious what the life expectancy of the V10 Triton is. I know this is somewhat variable due to previous owners etc, but assuming decent care. Thanks

I would have to say 200K with proper maint. I have 60K on mine and it still drives like new. My V10 is in a Super Duty.

For more info on the great V10 motor, take a look in the V10 forum.

Welcome to the site.

I bought a used 2005 v10 4x4 w/20k miles ex. recently. I did lots of research on this forum and others and went with the v10. I had my choice of dsl. or gas and went the with the v10 gas. I think it is the best large SUV for the money, safety, comfort, dependabilty, parts cost and ease of maintenance. My 3 cents worth....

Even though I have a Super Duty, mine has 144000 miles on it and it still has a lot of power and torque. I did have to get a spark plug hole rethreaded and when I did, I had the shop replace all the plugs with platinums. If it has been well maintained I would think you should be OK.

the ones at work all have between 155 and 261k. The one with 261 is in a dumptruck and does not live a easy life. The trans will go before the engine does.

i have to ask, my 01 has 72000 now, and i was wondering, where the hell do you guys go to put that many miles on your trucks? i mean really, i think i drive alot, and to put like 45000 a year is almost unheard of for me.....AND, THATS ALOT OF GAS TOO>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have over 125,000 on my '03 (bought new in november of 03) and have not had any major problems. I just keep a religious maintence schedule.

WOW! Some high mileage V10s out there! Great!

Aaron77, welcome to FTE! I see absolutley NO reason why the V10 (with proper maintence...a given) couldn't see 350K beofre a rebuild. Those that post higher mileage do what is the best thing for an engine...use it a lot!

I just traded my '01 F250 XLT Supercab short bed with 242,000 miles. My maintenance schedule was probably better than average, but far from perfect. Only problem I ever head was a dead fuel pump at 220k, and it tended to eat up front tires.. The truck saw some heavy use with my 8000# travel trailer, and a 36' gooseneck race trailer.

The dealer gave me $7000 towards an '03 Excursion Limited 4x4 V10 with 75,000 miles. I have absolutely no reservations about this motor. I'll pull past anything but a gas station!

ya'll can say what you want, but i've had three excursions, and I will never have a V10 that gets 8 mpg. If your gonna buy one, buy the diesel.
