Toyo Open Country Mt Tires
Anyone running the Toyo Open Country MT 285-75- R16 tires on their F250 or F350? I watched a show the other day & Superlift said they were awesome, quiet, & the treadlife is supposed to be real good.
If so.
1) Do you like them ?
2) Are they quiet ?
3) Would you recommend ?

I haven't heard a negative thing about them yet.....I also think they are one of the best looking tires out there. Too bad you can't get them National backorder....first I heard 30 days, then 60 days, then 30 to 90 days, and now, indefinitely. I think there are a couple of things going on. First, the quality is better than many other tires in the same sizes, and the load carrying capacity is higher than most other M/Ts so the military is using them. I think alot of the Toyos are going to Iraq for Humvees and other vehicles. Next, apparently they are building a new facility somewhere in the midwest? Once that is up and running, hopefully they will be able to get caught up. I am sure there are some dealers around the country that have some, but all you can do is start calling. I was at Belle Tire yesterday and I think they had some 33X12.50R20's in stock, but no way on any 17 or 18 inchers, probably used on the Hummers. Maybe the 16s would be easier to find. I have pretty much given up finding any until spring.

Have you checked out tirerack.com? They have lots of consumer reviews and you can pull up a graph of the ratings on a whole group of tires. I have the stock aluminum rims, so I went from a michelin 285x35x16 to a 265x75x16, which has a higher load rating than the 285x35. I went with a Firestone brand because it was more like a commercial truck tire and they had a decent rating on tirerack.com and the price was good. I was also looking at the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo that had very high consumer ratings, but they were a little pricy. Goodyear also has one called Fortera Silent Armor, which is supposed to have some sort of gel liner that makes the tire very quiet.

From the way it looks no one in this country can get these tires therefore I am going to look for a different tire.
