Closed knuckle Dana 44

I just waited a week for my 75 closed knuckle dana 44 spindle bushings order to arrive at the local Ford dealership. I walked in to check on my order only to find that Ford cannot deliver the part... reason given was "NR - not replaceable" ... Obselete?? I was thinking that I might find a roller bearing with the same ID and OD to replace the brass bushings that are pressed into the back of the spindles. Where would I get parts for a closed knuckle Dana 44. Can I order the parts directly from Spicer? I already bought the trunion bearings, so if I can get some spindle bushings that aren't carved out I'll be back on the road. If I can't find parts I'll make them, but only if it comes to that!

Have you tried a parts store? I don't mean one of the low cost chain stores. I mean a good parts, NAPA oughta have them. If not try, Four Wheel Parts Warehouse or maybe Advance adapters or one of them places. Should be that hard to find.

Adam,
What part of the country are you in? I have the HD 44 out of my '74 sitting in my carport after replacing it with a '77 disc-brake version, and haven't decided how to dispose of the original. It had about 110K miles on it, pretty meaningless, because who uses the front axle engaged that much? Anyway, if you or anyone else in shouting distance of Central Oregon could use it, plus the original power steering ram, valve, and hoses, I'd sure like to get it out of my way!

Hey, thanks for the offer, I surely would like to install an HD, though I only have 33" tires so it's not like I'm going to break anything.... and I'm pretty easy on the old truck. I live in New Hampshire though, so it's unlikely that I'd be out in Oregon anytime soon.

I also have a dana 44 closed knuckle front end with most or all of the steering parts I pulled out of a '75 F250 near Dallas/Ft Worth TX. Will sell cheap.

How much would that cost to ship the axle to Ohio?
Would you be willing to just sell the steering parts?
