Question Magnaflow or flowmaster?? putting dual exhaust on this week

I scheduled to have duals put on this week and need to decide which way to go. I don't want a loud exhaust that drives you nuts on a road trip. Just a smooth sound and let the motor breath easier. The guy at the shop said the magnaflow has a lifetime warranty vs 1 yr on flowmaster, and will be comparable in sound to the flowmaster 50 series, but not quite as loud. What do you guys think? Anyone heard these mufflers on a superduty 5.4?
Thanks!

I would definately like to know which you go with. I am planning on doing the same thing and was leaning towards the magnaflows instead of the flowmasters.

I have the flowmaster 40 series on my 5.4 SD, with the cat on the muffler is so quiet either way it doesn't matter, with the cat off the flowmaster is a little much, one thing to remember is that the 5.4 and 6.8 don't have a good deep V-8 sound like the dodge and chevys do, so to help the ford get a little deeper and tougher sounding you need the flowmaster, a strait through muffler is not going to give you a deep good tone, more of that indy car sound that we hate. The flowmaster will hold up pretty well, nothing to worry about there, go either way, just try to remember to get a good sound out of it, it's not like you are doing this for more power, just don't be like the rest of us and have to do it 3-4 times to get it right....

I have a magnaflow on my 5.4... Love it love it love it... Not obnoxious on the highway, but when you romp on it, it's definately not stock sounding... Deep, mellow tone... I believe I got the 3" in, 2.5 dual out, on the 18" muffler

Be careful with the dual exhaust, loss of back pressure will lead to a slight loss of low end torque. It did in my 5.4 anyway. I switched to single with flowmaster which was much better. If you have a supercharger, then that's another story.

dual exhaust

I did the duals even knowing about possible torque loss... I did it more for looks and sound than performance. Any loss was negligable as the truck will still get up and go if you punch it. But with gas prices the way they are... it hasn't been punched much

well the new eshaust is done and I'm very happy with the sound. Thanks to all you guys for your input. I went with the magnaflow, you really here it when you get on it but no sound inside the cab when going down the road. Thanks again!!

Which magnaflow exhaust did you go with? I am getting ready to order a setup myself.

Thanks

I've always favored the flowmaster. They are built like a tank and can withstand upto all sorts of abuse.

But Magnaflow has some good stuff too.

But ya also got the purple hornies or what about glasspacks? hahha

I did a Gibson out the side exit. Sound is good. You don't even hear a lot of difference until you get into it.

I wanted the dual rear, but I did not want to find a new place for my spare.

I realize that. My comment was mainly directed at ScooterScott who was requesting soundclips from members that haven't posted in over a year. Just wanted him to realize that he probably isn't going to get soundclips from them.
