Question Powersteering For '62 F100

We are looking to install power steering in a 62 model F100 and would like some pointers on any alterations that need to be done to achieve this ie chassis etc. We have been told that the steering box out of a Datsun/Nissan 280C will fit the F100 but finding one is another story LOL.

We are in Australia so if anyone knows of any F100 wreckers over here please let me know as finding parts for the 'old girl' is getting difficult.

Being an Aussie truck is it right hand drive?

one would think that a right hand drive Toyota 4x4 box fron the mid eighties would be a mirror image? As this is an effective choice for a 61 to 64 here?

If it is standard left hand drive then a toy box will work.

Thanks for that Garbz.

Yes the truck is right hand drive. We didn't know about the Toyota 4x4 box being an option so will look into that as it will be a lot easier to find a mid's 80's Landcruiser or Forerunner than it will the 280C Datsun box.

Just finishing up mine. Used a Toyota gearbox and Ford pump. I have a 61 uni and 360/C6. The return fitting is really tight(exhaust manifold) so I had to fabricate a very tight 90. Used Toy fitting, and after much bending and flaring, decided to just cut a 90 and braze. Will see if it turns out. Good luck on you project. Randy

BTW, the best advice I got from here was to find a donor truck (I used a 90's ford) and get ALL the related parts. Brackets, spacers, triple crank pulley for A/C, etc.
