How can I disable the overdrive function?

I just boughta 1990 F250, 5.8L, 4x4, 240,000 orginal miles with an auto tranny rebuild 15,000 miles ago. A friend will be towing a 6500lb boat/trailer combo to Alaska for me. I'd like to disable the dash mounted overdrive button to ensure that it never get pushed/bumped on the trip. Is there a fuse or some other way of preventing the tranny from ever going into overdrive?

Also, the truck has factory tow package with a tranny cooler about 6" x 11" in front of the AC condensor. Is this sufficient for this towing load or should I get a larger tranny cooler?

Thanks,

Lance

Why is it so critical that it does not go into overdrive? I would say to tell your friend not to put it into overdrive, but if he feels it shift into overdrive-hit the button to take it out of overdrive. Trust me, with over 6000lb behind it, he'll know when it goes in!
