Soon-to-be Bucking Bronco

I finally decided to put a good sound system in my Bronc. I have most of the parts and the rest will be here by next week. I am about halfway done, I installed an Alpine head unit with an XM tuner built in (no need for an external tuner box). I replaced the front 6.5 speakers with Sony Xplods and the rear 6X8 with Pioneers. The next step is to install the Alpine MVR-F240 4 channel amp for the front speakers and a Kenwood KAC-5201 amp with a single bandpass box and a Kenwood KFC-W3009 12" sub. I am also going to put Dynamat behind and around the front 4 speakers.

All in all the whole thing will cost me under $800 due to careful shopping and installing things myself. I'll let you know how it sounds when I am finished.

Oh yeah - I also got an alarm system with keyless entry and remote start, with an LCD pager remote. I don't think that I am going to install that myself though. I know how to install an alarm but am sorta confused by the remote start and keyless entry. BUT they want $200 to install it, so I may learn, if anyone has any tips.

Next, I am installing an overhead DVD player with TV tuner, it's all in one unit and made by Pyle and only costs $300. Has anyone ever installed one of these, or one similar? I don't know what will need to be wired, or how it attaches to the roof without drilling holes through the roof (someone did that when installing an overhead console once).

The remote start is an easy install, I put one in my 89 2 weeks ago. There are a couple of web sites out there that have all the wire locations and colors listed on a chart for free, I got those and started hooking it up. It took me a couple of hours and it works great. If you need any more info, let me know.

If you could post the links, that would be great.

The alarm has a good wiring diagram with it, but I am not sure where the wires are on the truck to attach it to. I know some of them, but not all.

Here are two sites, they require you to register but they are free. Lots of good information.

I got it on eBay. The same basic system is all over eBay, I just waited until I found a real good price and snatched it for $51 brand new. I got it and everything looks good.
